Technology to See "Invisible Creatures"

Until now, biological surveys relied on analog methods like "catching with nets" or "counting visually." However, the latest technology is breaking through those limitations.

The leading example is "environmental DNA (eDNA)" technology.

DNA derived from mucus, feces, and other material from organisms living there is contained in river or pond water, or even in the air. Just by analyzing a bucket of water or air passed through a filter, you can determine "what fish were there" or "what birds passed through." It's a revolutionary monitoring method that requires neither capture nor observation.

Forest Analysis with Drones and AI

A revolution is also happening from the sky. Drones equipped with LiDAR and multispectral cameras fly over forests, mapping tree species and health conditions in 3D.

AI analyzes that image data and automatically detects "changes in vegetation" or "signs of illegal logging." Precise health diagnostics are now possible even in remote areas that humans cannot enter.

Proving Value with Blockchain

Collected data is stored as "tamper-proof records" through blockchain technology. This proves the fact that "this company certainly protected the environment," enabling trading as reliable "natural credits."

IKIMON's Role

Cutting-edge science and technology (Tech) combined with citizen eyes (Citizen Science). The IKIMON platform combines these two.

* Broad, simple surveys are done by "citizens" with smartphones. * Detailed specialized surveys are done with "environmental DNA" and "drones." * AI integrates all data and visualizes regional biodiversity.

Technology exists not to dominate nature, but to deeply understand and coexist with it.

The Future IKIMON Aims For

Drones, environmental DNA, AI—each is merely a "tool." What matters is what you want to achieve with them.

IKIMON wants to combine technology and citizen power to create "a society where everyone can participate as a member of nature."

Walk in a nearby park. Photograph the creatures you find. That's enough. Our small discoveries will eventually become big data and become the power to protect the Earth.

Technology may look difficult. But using it is surely easy. We would be happy if IKIMON can be that bridge.
